Perceived Barriers

A reflection on practice, process, artmaking, and community building in regional South Australia.

Sometimes art is about technical brilliance. A perfect brushstroke. A clever idea well executed.

Sometimes art is about beautiful things. Sometimes art is about challenging us. Reflecting the world back to us as it is, or as we hope it might be.

Sometimes art is messy and confusing and strange. Sometimes art is a question. Sometimes it’s an answer.

Perceived Barriers is our exploration of ideas and process. A way to keep thinking into and thinking through what it means to live, and love, and make art from regional South Australia.

This exhibition was created and installed by Kirste Jade, Eliza Wuttke and Alysha Herrmann, with assistance and contributions from Sam Wannan. Presented at Part of Things, August 2024.
