Let’s Talk: Reflection

Alright! It’s been a week since my last post. And a super busy week, at that (see Part of Things socials to get a peek!). I wanted to take a little bit of time to reflect on my month-long project, Let’s Talk: Writing.

I’m a writer. I went to uni to study creative writing. When I graduated (2016), I felt I was left without much direction — I didn’t build any networks, or tear into my novel, or go through essentials/basics of writing. We were throttled with workshop after workshop (with a different piece of writing each time) between reading stagnant vintage books and pumping out 3000 word essays. Writing lost its magic.

It took me two years after graduating to start relearning and reloving these things.

June 2020 was about reaching out to writers and getting them to engage with each other — build a bigger community in the Riverland (with the focus of being online). The topics we looked into were to attract writers from anywhere in their writing journey. I didn’t want to skip over any topic that might be useful to someone.

Alysha and Part of Things deserve a huge thank you for giving me the space to explore, to try something new and reminding me that I have the permission to do so.

Let us know if there’s a topic you’d like to dive into — or, even better, if you want to be that someone that helps others dive into it.

That’s it from me, kids. See you with our next project!
