Let’s Talk: The Initial Idea

Let’s start with the idea. Don’t have one? Great! Let’s find one.

If you have absolutely no clue what you’re writing, prompts will be a very good friend to you. Writing prompts are tiny ideas or scenarios that can lead to characters, settings and sometimes even your plot.

Ask yourself — what kind of characters would be in this situation? Or, what kind of characters would NEVER be in this situation. How old are these characters? How did they get here? Who else is involved? And most importantly, what happens next?

So, where can you find these wonderful little prompts? Everywhere, honestly. But here are some of my favourite places:

Pick something that excites you! Spend an hour (or more) on it today! If you have some favourite prompt sites/resources, please drop them in the comments below!
